According to KTGY Group Inc., the architect for the Villaggio at Route 66, the project―at Route 66 and Center Street near Haven Avenue―will set aside approximately 80% of its units for renters who earn 35% to 60% of the area's median income. Situated near the Victoria Gardens retail center and City Hall, the new 10.54-acre development will consist of buildings ranging from one to three stories with 100 two-bedroom and 66 three-bedroom apartments, along with a 5,600-sf community building. The complex will also include two tot lots, a pool and fitness center,a business center and an education center for residents.

Grading is currently under way, with foundations and slabs expected to be poured soon for the complex, which will feature units ranging from 887 sf to 1,088 sf, along with greenbelt areas and pedestrian paths. Workforce Homebuilders is developing the project in a partnership with National Community Renaissance and Hope through Housing, both based in Rancho Cucamonga.

KTGY principal and architect Charles Addington notes that providing work force housing close to major retail and commercial centers is a key to their success. Work force housing initiatives are under way in a host of Southern California locales.
