John Louis leased 70,000 square feet in Building Seven. The company will use the space for international distribution, says Cheryl Muniz, a VP with ProLogis. Superior has taken 23,300 square feet at Building 10, where it will operate the space on behalf of Hussman, a refrigeration and food merchandising equipment manufacturer. Muniz says she can't say what the exact rates were, but says average leases range from $3.90 to $4.30 per square foot in the park.

ProLogis has 10 buildings in the large park, Muniz says. "Demand is strong here, mostly because you can go in any direction to any point across the country fairly easily," she says. The industrial park is part of the Earth City business center, which includes six million square feet of office and industrial buildings.

Her company has 16 buildings in the St. Louis area, with about 2.9 million square feet and customers including Unilever, the United States Postal Service and Sara Lee Corp. However, the company recently announced it has halted all new development because of the economy.
