O&S Holdings LLC of Santa Monica, CA broke ground on the mixed-use, $200-million Bridge Street Towne Center in February 2008. The 82-acre project at US Hwy 75 and State Hwy. 121 also calls for about 400,000 square feet of retail and 100,000 square feet of office space.
According to another local source McKinneyNews.net, construction was halted in mid-October following a letter sent by O&S Holdings to general contractor Beck Construction, telling the firm to stop work immediately. O&S had requested additional funds from the McKinney Community Development Corp. on Oct. 7, citing rising project costs. Area sources say, however, that the $5.5 million likely wouldn't be enough to bring the project to a halt.
The city council is scheduled to discuss zoning issues concerning the Bridge Street Town Centre site with the Planning and Zoning Commission at a joint meeting on Dec. 9. Read more about the situation at McKinneyUpdate.com and McKinneyNews.net.
