St. Luke's is locating its inpatient rehabilitation to the new hospital, about three miles away from the Chesterfield main campus, doubling the amount of care that it can provide to these patients. "Our goal is to provide an environment for patients to relearn real-life skills necessary to return to home and family at a higher level of independence," said Kevin Syberg, CEO of the new hospital.
Clayco had an unusual method of construction, designed to save costs, said the company in a statement. The firm used a wood-framing method that entailed constructing the frame walls at an off-site location, and transporting them to the site when ready. "Our team was excited to work to such a unique healthcare facility," said Steve Street, project executive with the company.
The Clayco team included Street, Kirk Warden and Rob Bruce, project superintendent. Mackey Mitchell was the architect, Stock & Associates Consulting Engineers Inc. were the civil engineers and KPFF were the structure engineers.
