We promise that this isn't a promotional message for ICSC's Spring Convention in Las Vegas this May, but we couldn't let this go unmentioned. While checking our Crackberry yesterday evening, we received an email telling us that our room rate for the convention had been reduced by $90(!!!), and it wasn't even that high to begin with. (We swear it wasn't, Counter Culture bosses!)We're guessing this means two things: 1) This convention is going to be more affordable than it has been in recent years. 2) Things are SO BAD in Vegas and with the convention climate in general that they're pulling out all the stops this year to get people to attend. We've certainly covered Vegas' recent tourism woes on GlobeSt. And ICSC has a page on its Web site devoted to convention savings. So what is your take? Is the convention so important that you would go no matter the cost? Are lower rates going to convince you to go when you might not otherwise this year? Or are things so tight that no matter the price, you just can't attend?
