"It's unique in that it's a very upscale parking deck in this urban setting," Keith Dafcik, SVP with McShane, tells GlobeSt.com. "The village has a lot of shops in back of the parking deck that they needed to parking for. This will definitely support those shops, as well as the village hall."
The deck is being developed on less than an acre in Libertyville's downtown area, neighboring the village hall at the southeast corner of Lake Street and Brainerd Avenue.
McShane was awarded the project in September 2008 after outbidding eight other contractors vying for the job. The company says the village selected them based on its competitive bid and previous experience with parking deck projects of this nature. Walker Parking Consultants coordinated the bid process on behalf of the village and provided site planning and architectural services for the development.
