A recent article in the Mobile Press-Registerindicated RSA plans renovations to the 33-floor building at 107 St. Francis St. Joe Toole, who heads Retirement Systems of Alabama's real estate division was traveling and could not be reached for comment, but a spokeswoman tells GlobeSt.com the sale closed about a week ago.
The Press-Register article reported David Bronner, chief of the agency as saying that the class B AmSouth Bank Building will be a good complement to the the nearby 534,268-square foot RSA Battle House Tower. The class A office building at 11 N. Water St. is also owned by the agency.
The AmSouth Bank Building was originally the First National Bank Building when it opened in 1965. AmSouth Bank Building was the tallest building in Mobile until RSA Battle House Tower was completed in 2007.
