The new hotel is owned by John Q. Hammons and will be operated by Springfield, MO-based John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts. Hammons is an independent builder, developer, owner and manager of upscale, full-service hotels, resorts and suites.
The hotel and conference center complex is situated 25 miles from Downtown Dallas at 210 East Stacy Rd. in the Village at Allen. The Village at Allen, which opened in October 2008, is one component of the MGHerring Group's three-million-square-foot, regional, mixed-use lifestyle center located in both Allen and Fairview, TX.
The developers not that the project is expected to represent 125 new jobs in the area, with recruitment fairs planned for late summer 2009. Others joining Hammons at the topping-out included officials from Crossland Construction, the Village at Allen and other area officials.
Bob Fugazi, regional vice president forHammons Hotels & Resorts, described the hotel and event space project at 50% complete. He said that the development underscores John Q. Hammons' commitment to the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, where the property will represent Hammons' fifth in the area. The project is the latest in the city of Allen's extensive new entertainment and retail developments.
The Village at Allen that the hotel is part of is being developed in conjunction with a sister project called the Village at Fairview. Upon completion, the entire project will span 400 acres and include two million square feet of retail and one million square feet of office, residential and hotel space.
The hotel and conference center complex is adjacent to the new $50 million Allen Event Center, set to open in November with a 7,500-seat capacity. It will be a venue for concerts, touring shows, entertainment and professional sports.
