To better service the portfolio, the Madison, WI-based Hammes has opened a local office at 725 Elizabeth St. A spokeswoman with Hammes tells GlobeSt.com that the Corpus Christi office is the company's third in Texas. Hammes regional offices are also in Dallas and Houston. She says the Corpus Christi buildings vary in size, age and occupancy. What they have in common is that they're medical buildings, and all owned by Christus Spohn Health System, which has its headquarters locally.

"Christus didn't have time to market the buildings or manage them," she comments. "They were getting bogged down with all the work that needed to be done, so they looked outside for leasing and property management help."

The spokeswoman adds that Christus' goals are to increase the value and marketability of the office portfolio through lease reassignments and lease-ups. Hammes will also be working on solidifying relationships with preferred provider vendors, as well as providing portfolio consulting and asset management services for the properties.

Christus Spohn Health System is part of Christus Health System, headquartered in Irving, TX. Christus Spohn's hospitals and medical centers provide health care to residents of south central Texass.
