MT3, a locally-based development company, says financing for the project is provided by locally-based ELP Capital. The San Francisco architecture firm Hannum Associates designed the hotel. The development is expected to achieve a LEED Silver rating from the US Green Building Council.

Boulevard South is a mixed-use development including shops and restaurants. The hotel development site is adjacent to a 16-acre lake with a walking path and convenient to the casinos, shops and restaurants of downtown Reno.

Last week, the Reno City Planning Commission unanimously approved changes allowing the hotel as well as plans for a senior housing complex that would 271 units and also be built by MT3. A total of 1,726 units have been approved for the overall development.

Jeff Codega, planning consultant for the developer MT3 Partners, reportedly told the commissioners that that hotel construction would begin in 2010. Construction of the seniors complex would reportedly begin this fall because financing has already been secured.
