Climatec will move in shortly afterward. The company, which provides HVAC and other interior products and services, will share the building at 2851 W. Kathleen Rd. with Concert Architectural Interiors. Concert Architectural designs and develops workplace interior furnishings.

M. Tracy Hammer, McShane Construction's vice president, tells GlobeSt.com that Climatec had owned the three-building complex at 2851 W. Kathleen Rd. for awhile, and was keasing it to Hypercom Corp. Hypercom's relocation to North Scottsdale, AZ and Climatec's growth led to the decision to rehabilitate the buildings and move into them. Climatec currently occupanies 40,000 square feet at 10802 N 23rd Ave.

Hammer, who operates from McShane Construction's Phoenix office, says the project has involved taking three very different buildings and connecting them through major exterior and interior work and comprehensive design, provided by Dick & Fritsche Design Group of Phoenix. "The buildings initially didn't have a main entry," he explains. "So as part of the design, we came up with that main entry to establish the front." Also new to the complex is a lobby and an interior courtyard.

"This was a complicated interior build-out," he says. "We have three different buildings that somehow had to become one single unit." Further complicating the issue, he adds, was that each building had a different classification code, a each were built at different times.

However, the retrofit will provide a nice showcase for both companies, as well as a state-of-the-art headquarters for Climatec. "This is a great opportunity for Concept Architectural to showcase its interior furnishings, and Climatech to demonstrate the various mechanical equipment and systems they've deployed," Hammer says.
