Riverside Lodging Associates purchased 2.28 acres of land at Turner Riverwalk for the hotel, with Sun Development and Management Corp. as the developer. Bharat Patel, president of Sun, says that the western Riverside and Corona market "sorely needs a high-quality hotel."

The hotel will be situated next to the Medical Park at Riverwalk and adjacent to the Shops at Turner Riverwalk at the mixed-use project, which is located along Pierce Street near the 91 Freeway in Western Riverside. The business park comprises 400,000 square feet of office space, 100,000 square feet of medical office space , 375,000 square feet of R&D and industrial space, and 125,000 square feet of retail including 11 restaurants.

Rusty Turner, president of Turner Development, echoes Patel's remarks about the need for a hotel in the area. The businesses at Turner Riverwalk are eager to see the hotel open, as is nearby La Sierra University, Turner says.

Privately held Turner, which was founded in 1979, specializes in the acquisition, development and management of industrial and commercial real estate in Southern California. The firm has acquired and developed approximately 5.5 million square feet of commercial and industrial properties and more than 270 acres of land into master planned mixed use business parks throughout the region.

The Sun Development and Management Corp.'s portfolio includes hospitality brands under the Hilton, Marriott, IHG and Choice brands throughout the US. It includes three Embassy Suites currently under construction in Ontario and Palmdale in Southern California, and at the Newark Airport in New Jersey.
