Previously, Benowitz served as a senior vice president of project finance and investment analysis for Hilton Hotels Corp. While there he completed acquisitions, dispositions and mortgage financing transactions. He helped acquire Hilton International in 2006 and sell Hilton Hotels Corp to Blackstone in 2008.
"His extensive experience on the transaction side of the hospitality industry makes him a valuable addition," Merkel says.
Prior to working at Hilton, Benowitz spent seven years at Marriott Corp.
