The project was first proposed during the summer of 2007. At the time, Lindenwood's president suggested a building about half the size of the current plan. But after discussion with students the plans changed to make room for more common areas as well as additional fitness facilities.

The current plan calls for a dining hall, multipurpose rooms, a food court, fitness center, locker rooms, laundry room, game rooms and offices for the campus student organizations. Construction started this month, after a slight delay due to the large amounts of raid during April. The building should be completed in time for the 2010-2011 school year.

St. Louis-based Hastings & Chivetta Architects designed the three-floor building. The firm also designed the newly built J. Scheidegger Center and the Hyland Performance Arena. In total, Lindwenwood has spent $125 million in construction projects since 1996.
