"Given the uncertainty and unanswered questions in the Chicago market, we've tailored our agenda this year to offer survival tips and market reconnaissance that will reveal business opportunities," says Jason Young, conference producer for Incisive Media's Real Estate Group. "We've even added a new general-session panel specifically on finding opportunities in distressed assets and restructured financing, both of which are hot topics in this market and nationwide."

The event will begin with remarks by Michael Desiato, VP and group publisher for Incisive Media, just before 8:00am. Desiato will be followed by Bruce Miller, international director for Jones Lang LaSalle, who will offer attendees a special capital markets update. Scott Farb, managing director of the Reznick Group, will speak about real estate private equity funds and their changing dynamics during the recession.

The town hall meeting, which will delve directly into the current state of the market and the outlook for the quarters ahead, will be moderated by Shawn Mobley, EVP and managing director for Grubb & Ellis. Panelists for that session include Richard Blum of Fifield Cos., Vicki Noonan of Tishman Speyer, Bill Rolander of the John Buck Co. and Steve Stratton of Jones Lang LaSalle.

As the event progresses, attendees will have the option of listening to panels discuss the industrial or multi-family markets and later either the suburban office market or the downtown office outlook.

Around 10:30am, Bernard Haddigan, SVP and managing director for Marcus & Millichap, will lead a panel discussion on the opportunities to be found in distressed assets and restructured finance.
