NoMa has already successfully pushed through legislation for a residential tax abatement. That measure is hoped to result in the development and/or sale of 3,000 residential units, BID Director Liz Price said at the event. J Street, of course, is an active developer in NoMa; it is getting set to top off one of its projects there – 111 K St., NE, an 11-story, 90,000 square foot office condo building that is scheduled to deliver in Q1 2010. Non-profits that have acquired offices there include Sierra Club and the YWCA.

The meeting also carved out time to give the audience – which included City Council members John Evans and Vincent Gray – an update on NoMa's progress. Since the BID's establishment some 60,000 square feet in retail leases have been signed and 719,000 square feet in office space.
