Managed by Heery International, the $125-million program kicked off with a groundbreaking at West Hollywood Park, which will ultimately house the library. The new facility will replace the city's current library in a project that has been in progress for almost 10 years.

Designed by MDA Johnson Favaro, the library will meet LEED Silver rating criteria.Heery is providing construction management services including scheduling, cost estimating, construction reviews, and contractor bidding and awards for the library and surrounding West Hollywood Park projects.

Daniel Adams, Heery project manager, says the company will play a significant role in ensuring that LEED criteria are met, since each new facility in West Hollywood is pursuing Silver certification. In addition to the services it is providing for the library project, Heery will also provide the same services for the capital program's two other projects: the West Hollywood City Hall Community Service Center and parking project and phase I of the Plummer Park master plan.

Other improvements at West Hollywood Park, with the demolition of the current library and parking lot, will be the addition of 2.5 acres of park space, two municipal parking garages that will add more than 400 spaces, a new facility will provide space for public meetings and City Government Access Television facilities. The second segment of the capital project, the 18,000-square-foot West Hollywood Community Service Center and parking structure, will house a community service center, meeting rooms and office space built atop a multi-level, 200-space parking structure.

During its construction, Heery will also oversee exterior improvements to the existing, adjacent City Hall building. Construction of the library is scheduled for completion in summer 2011, with the other projects continuing for several more years.
