DARPA is currently located in Fairfax, VA. It will move to North Randolph St. in 2012 when the building delivers. Representing GSA were Studley brokers Neil Levy, David Lipson and Rob Brunton. John Duffy and Bill Asbill of Holliday Fenoglio Fowler arranged the project financing. Other participants include RTKL Associates, Weidlinger Associates, Tolk, SK&A and Studio 39.
The building will be part of phase one of Shooshan's Founders Square development, a LEED-ND Gold--neighborhood development-- pilot program, which also will have a 312,000-square-foot office building, two residential buildings totaling 362 units, a one-story, 8,000-square-foot retail building with surface parking. There will be in total 26,900 square feet of ground floor retail. The development is an existing brownfield site.
A similar sized--albeit slightly smaller--lease was inked in the nearby Crystal City, VA submarket. In May the National Guard Bureau renewed the extensive office space it maintains at Lowe Enterprises' Jefferson Plaza--310,202-square-foot lease, extended for another five years.
