The building is called Distribution Centre 1 and is the second LEED Gold building at Southern California Logistics Centre. In March, Stirling Capital received its first LEED Gold certification for Distribution Centre 13A, a 296,490-square-foot industrial facility, marking the first ever LEED-certified project of any kind in the High Desert region of Southern California.

Brian Parno, a Stirling Capital vice president, says that the developer will continue to pursue LEED certification on new development. He notes that Distribution Centre I uses approximately 48.5% less energy than a baseline facility potentially saving a tenant more than $275,000 per year in energy costs.

DC1 sits on approximately 46 acres and is the largest building constructed to date as part of phase one development of SCLC totaling more than 6.5 million square feet. Upon completion, SCLC will total approximately 60 million square feet of commercial and industrial development to accommodate future warehousing and logistics operations.

Southern California Logistics Centre is part of 8,500 acres called Global Access Victorville at the former George Air Force Base. In addition to the SCLC, Global Access Victorville comprises the 2,500-acre Southern California Logistics Airport and the 3,500-acre Southern California Rail Complex, a planned 3,500-acre intermodal and multimodal complex entailing rail-served facilities.
