BKD moved 325 employees to the second, third and fourth floors of the building from the Hammons Tower. The company occupied floors eight of the floors in the Hammons Tower since the building opened in 1987. Employees from both the local Springfield office and the headquarters facility moved to the newly completed facility. There remain 22,000 square feet of vacant space on the first floor.
"One of the reasons we selected Opus was their promise to help us create a building unique to BKD that would reflect the BKD experience and our pride values," says CEO Neal Spencer. "Their innovative design of our PRIDE wall incorporates quotes from five of our executive leadership team and what that value means to them or how they express that value through their daily work, as well as showcasing past PRIDE award recipients."
The building recently received Silver LEED certification. Some of the green initiatives employed at the facility include low-emission vehicle parking spaces, low-flow plumbing fixtures, energy efficient heating and air systems, water efficient landscaping, a white roof to reduce heat, internal recycling collection sites and motion sensitive lighting.
