The headquarters will be housed in SAIC's 1710 SAIC Dr. It is unclear whether it will develop further space to accommodate the new employees. SAIC did not return a call to GlobeSt.com in time for publication. A source for the local economic development agency, however, notes that further development would require county approval--and there has not been any action on the part of SAIC in that respect.
Fairfax County Economic Development Authority worked with the state to land SAIC's headquarters of operations; it is one in a string of site selection wins over the last few years for the state. Earlier this year, for instance, Hilton announced it would move its headquarters from Beverly Hills to Virginia, opting to occupy one third of Park Place II, an 11-story, 323,000-square-foot office building developed by B.F. Saul Real Estate Investment Trust. In 2007, Volkswagen of America announced it would transition its Auburn Hills, MI-based US headquarters operations to Herndon, VA. It selected a $100-million, 185,000-square-foot building, called Woodland Pointe, owned by Tishman Speyer.
