Former Capmark Exec Joins Northmarq

Ross began his career in mortgage banking in 1976, when he went to work at Bright Mortgage Co. in Dallas. In 1989, he was one of the co-founders of Keystone Mortgage, which was sold to Capmark Finance in 2001.

Ross retired last May from Capmark, where he had served as executive vice president in charge of managing that company's nationwide mortgage banking network. In his new position with Northmarq, his plan is to boost various platforms . Ross tells GlobeSt.com some of the areas that will be his focus include agency lending, life companies and "special projects Ed wants me to work on."

Ross also wants to help grow the Dallas office through mentorship and advising the newer members of the team. "Last year, the Capmark Dallas office was the number one office in the Dallas region," Ross explains. "I want to take what I did there, and help grow the Dallas office."

Ross acknowledges the current economic environment remains challenging, though there are some glimmers of hope. For one thing, he points out, assets are trading at a more reasonable level, and banks are less nervous about loans though LTVs are still at 60% to 65%. Furthermore, "some of the life companies are drifting into the market with funds," he adds. "I think next year we'll start to see some more things happen."

A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, TX, Ross also has a master of business administration degree in finance and real estate from Southern Methodist University in University Park, TX. He is a licensed real estate broker in Texas and has served for the past eight years on the executive council of the Real Estate Finance and Investment Center at the University of Texas. He has also served on numerous life company correspondent advisory councils including Aegon USA Realty Advisors, Allstate Insurance Co. and Nationwide Life Insurance Co.
