Both of the new tenants will occupy space in the 30 Enterprise building at the Summit campus, which is a joint venture development of Aliso Viejo-based Parker Properties and Rreef Alternative Investments. Marvell will occupy space on the second floor of 30 Enterprise, and LaBarre Oksnee has already moved into its space, expanding from 4,000 square feet elsewhere in Aliso Viejo to 8,036 square feet on the first floor of 30 Enterprise.
Marvell chose 30 Enterprise for a light lab component to be used by many of the firm's engineers to test micro chips for cellular devices. Summit officials says that Marvell, which was focused on creating greater efficiency for its Orange County location, will house 90 employees in the new space.
According to David Crabb of the San Diego office of CB Richard Ellis, who represented Marvell, the semiconductor firm "was committed to finding space that would drive greater efficiency for the company as well as help to maintain its commitment to green technology." The nearby housing and amenity base were also important factors in the decision, he said.
LaBarre Oksnee's move to Summit was all about its employees, the insurance firm said. Scott Oksnee, CEO and founder of the firm, notes that the company was already based in Aliso Viejo and that "This was an important move for us to expand into such a high profile campus location." The nationwide full-service insurance agency/brokerage firm, which houses 21 employees at the new headquarters, was represented by Rick Kaplan and John Tran of Cushman & Wakefield in the five-year lease.
The building ownership was represented in both leases by Ted Snell, Allison Schneider, Carol Trapani and Jacob Stickel of CB Richard Ellis. The 30 Enterprise building is one of two Silver LEED-certified four-story buildings, also including 20 Enterprise, that compose the newest 260,000-square-foot phase five of Summit Office Campus.
Lee Redmond, CEO of Parker Properties, notes that in addition to Marvell, locating in a sustainable office environment is an important commitment for other companies at Summit, including AJ Gallagher, Pacific Life, and Bausch & Lomb. Bausch & Lomb occupies 24,000 square feet at 30 Enterprise, a 136,695-square-foot building that is approximately 55% leased. At the 117,856-square-foot 20 Enterprise building, Parker/Rreef is marketing spaces from full floor (29,000 square feet) up to 117,000 square feet.
