Gill describes the South Bay region, which he has specialized in throughout his career, as one of the most significant submarkets in Southern California. He notes that the submarket includes the two major ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach as well as Los Angeles International Airport and "is one of the most vibrant and robust markets, even in the current economy," with a slight uptick in sales and leasing in the third quarter.
In addition to his previous position with Charles Dunn Co., Gill was president of Newmark & Co. and spent 30 years with Matlow-Kennedy Commercial Real Estate, where he last served as chairman and CEO. Some of the brokers joining the Lee team include Jeff Coburn and Shaun McCullough, both office and industrial market experts coming in as senior vice presidents and principals; Brandon Carrillo, Josh Reilly, Garrett Massaro and Barbara Goldsmith--all of them formerly with Dunn. Jerry Evans, the past president of the South Bay office of Lee, remains a principal and is now a senior vice president.
The opening of the Long Beach office is a continuation of Lee's long-term plans to "expand our footprint in all the meaningful submarkets throughout the US," according to Edward Indvik, chairman of the Lee advisory board and vice chairman of Lee & Associates' investment services group. Lee & Associates now operates 40 offices across the country, including recently added locations in Boise, New Jersey, and Chicago.
