The data indicated that Palm Beach County occupancies were at 48.5% from 45.7% the same time a year ago. Meanwhile, Miami-Dade occupancy inched up to 59.7% from 59.6%, while Broward County's reports were more or less flat, up to 55.5% from 55.4% the year before. Smith Travel Research data indicates occupancy across the U.S. was at 40.7%, down from 41.5% year over year.
Daily rates, however, continued to fall. Broward experienced the steepest drop at 13.4%, with rates falling from $100.37 to $86.88. Rates in Miami-Dade County fell to 124.78 from $132.32 (a 9.8% drop) and those in Palm Beach County dropped 7.6%, from $136.51 to $126.16.
