The search for a location ranged all over the Midwest, but Defender Direct opted for Kentucky because of the economic incentives the state is now offering. Newport is also less than 15 miles from Cincinnati.
"We considered other markets in the Midwest for our newest call center, but we were particularly impressed with the workforce in Northern Kentucky," says COO John Corliss. "The support and cooperation we received from the City of Newport, Northern Kentucky Tri-ED and the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development played a large part in our decision."
With the help of the Kentucky Business Investment program, the company is eligible to receive 750,000 in tax incentives. Defender Direct is one of the first companies to take advantage of the new program, Governor Steve Beshear says in a release.
The Indianapolis-based Defender Direct now has four call centers. The others are located in Batesville, IN.; Cincinnati and Indianapolis.
