In conjunction with its expansion plans, McDonalds has also begun a new marketing campaign here. The "Make Room for Happiness" mantra will mark the company's 20th anniversary in the Shenzhen market.

McDonalds new plan for China, is a change from earlier announcements in 2009, in which executives said the expansion plans would be scaled back in China for 2010. At the time the company only planned to open 140 new locations, putting the rest on hold until the Chinese market began to pick up and store traffic increased.

There are already 1,200 McDonalds stores in China.
