The Park Lafayette is a two-tower, 280-unit condo project that offers views of Lake Michigan. The project became the property of New York City-based Amalgamated Bank in October when the developer defaulted on its loan. Giuffre, though his company Mallery & Zimmerman SC, is in talks with the bank.

Renaissant Lafayette LLC, the project's developer, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in December with the hopes of keeping the property. The Chicago-based developer asked the court to allow it to continue operating the property while the company restructured.

Giuffre isn't the only investor interested in the property. A number of other developers and investors have expressed an interest. No sale has been confirmed.

Renaissant Lafayette purchased the property in 2005 and developed the two towers.
