The Cincinnati-based bank plans to move in June and will relocate 250 employees to 71,000 square feet in the building, with options for additional space. It has been looking to move uptown for several years, dating back to the operation's days as First Charter Corp. of Charlotte, which Fifth Third acquired two years ago.
Fifth Third found a tenant for its 216,000-square-foot headquarters building on David Taylor Drive late last year. Appliance maker Electrolux AB moved its headquarters to Charlotte and is leasing the former First Charter Center with an option to buy.
