The Crime Threat

As readers know, I am a big believer that America´s future lies in the vibrancy of its major metropolitan areas-the prime gateway cities where most of our economic activity concentrates. But the recession and its aftermath push these cities to an inflection point-after nearly 20 years of resurgence, severe budget cutbacks threaten to undermine their vibrancy.

The most serious issue for 24-hour cities is crime. Nothing will take a city down faster than high crime rates and fear on the streets.
