SAN DIEGO-Jim Zimsky, who spent 12 years as the senior managing director of Colliers International here and over 36 years in the commercial real estate industry, has stepped down to pursue personal interests, according to Colliers. As managing director of the San Diego operation, according to a Colliers news release, Zimsky led the company to multiple years of record earnings, achieving highest income producing years in 2002, 2003 and 2004. He was named manager of the year by Colliers in 2008.
Zimsky will be turning over the day-to-day management of the company to Jim Spain, the current managing director of Colliers’ Carlsbad office. Spain has been affiliated with Colliers International since 1982.
Zimsky, who has been part of San Diego County’s commercial real estate community since the early 1970’s, will remain involved through consulting work. Before joining Colliers, he was a principal and president of Coast Income Properties, a San Diego-based investment and development firm. He also served as president and manager of the commercial brokerage division of C. W. Clark Inc., headquartered in La Jolla. He started his real estate career at CB Commercial, which later became CB Richard Ellis, where he was a top producer specializing in land and investment sales.
Colliers notes that, while Zimsky was at the firm, he promoted and championed an annual client/broker golf tournament, raising more than $150,000 to benefit local charities including the Navy League’s Warrior Foundation, the A.B. and Jessie Polinsky Children’s Center, Head North Foundation and the American Red Cross.
