ENCINO, CA-John J. Kerin, senior vice president and managing director of Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Services, has been named president and CEO, effective July 1. He replaces Harvey E. Green, who's retirement was announced last month after 29 years at the firm.
According to chairman George M. Marcus, Kerin, who has been with the firm since 1981, has been instrumental in the development of the firm’s sales efforts and expansion of new offices. He ranked among the top 10 agents nationwide in 1985 and 1986 and was promoted to senior investment associate. In 1987 Kerin became the regional manager of the Los Angeles office where he succeeded in making it one of the top offices in the firm. He was elected first vice president in 1994 and managing director in 1996. In a statement to GlobeSt.com, Marcus commented that, “Marcus & Millichap is entering a new and exciting phase of growth and John is uniquely qualified to lead our efforts to expand market share and continue to improve our agent support and client services. The depth of John’s experience overseeing numerous operations throughout the country for the past several years gives him the knowledge and understanding essential to strengthening our value proposition.” "The recent market dislocation reinvigorated the importance of value-added brokerage, which has always been Marcus & Millichap’s driving force," says Kerin. "We have demonstrated our ability to help investors strategize and match buyer and sellers in one of the most difficult markets on record. I am excited about leading our team in growing our business by building on our track record and client focus. I see a great opportunity for our management team to further improve the efficiency and client service quality of our sales force."
