LOS ANGELES-The law firm Kaye Scholer LLP has signed for 42,000 square feet and the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network has leased 24,000 square feet in two of the largest Westside office leases signed lately. The Kaye Scholer lease is at 1999 Avenue of the Stars in Century City and the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network lease is at 1500 Rosecrans Ave. in Manhattan Beach.
Kaye Scholer, an international law firm, has signed a ten-year lease with landlord Equity Office, according to a team from L.A. Realty Partners who represented the law firm. The deal is a renewal and the law firm will be "embarking on a major remodeling to bring the office up to a state-of-the-art law firm facility,” said Kaye Scholer Los Angeles managing director Barry Dastin.
Gary Weiss of L.A. Realty Partners, who represented the tenant along with Christine McRoskey, said that the search and negotiation process leading up to the new lease began more than 12 months ago. The search involved "a lot of class A buildings," Weiss said, but ultimately Kay Scholer decided to stay in its existing building. Equity Office was represented in-house by Andrew Goodman. Terms of the lease were not disclosed.
In the lease at 1500 Rosecrans, the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network will be relocating its headquarters into a full floor in a 10-year lease at the 123,000-square-foot office building at Continental Park. The non-profit advocacy organization will be moving and expanding from 2141 Rosecrans Ave, another Continental Development building within Continental Park.
Continental negotiated the landlord side of the transaction in-house, while the tenant was represented by Andrew Jennison of L.A. Realty Partners. The value of the lease was not disclosed; the asking rate for space in the building is $2.50 per square foot per month, full service gross.
