RESTON, VA-Edens & Avant has made another acquisition in the DC area, with its purchase of Hunters Woods here. Located at Colts Neck Road and Glade Drive, the Safeway-anchored property is the company’s thirtieth retail center in the area. Edens & Avant plans to redevelop the 120,95-square-foot shopping center next year.
Other properties the company has either acquired or begun developing or redeveloping include the Mosaic in Merrifield, VA, which is scheduled to open in fall 2012, and the Shops at West Falls Church, which Edens & Avant began redeveloping earlier this summer. It also plans to redevelop another local retail center--Arlington Ridge--with plans to deliver those renovations by this fall.
These plans are part of a larger strategy by Safeway to strengthen its existing stores in the DC area, according to Timothy Baker, eastern division vice president of real estate for Safeway. Edens & Avant did not return a call to GlobeSt.com in time for publication.
