NEW YORK CITY-Trinity Real Estate, the real estate of Trinity Wall Street that’s among Manhattan’s larger commercial landlords, said Thursday it has tapped Jason Pizer to succeed Carl Weisbrod as president. Currently VP and director of leasing for Trinity RE, Pizer will assume his new duties Oct. 15.

In an interview Wednesday with the church’s communications director, Pizer called the promotion “a natural progression. In my career I’ve had some experience working in property management, some experience working in the construction industry and of course leasing at Trinity. So I’ve sort of worn all the hats that the president oversees in running the real estate portfolio.”

Over an 11-year tenure with Trinity RE, Pizer has played a key role in transforming Manhattan’s Hudson Square neighborhood, where the church has been a landowner since 1705 and where most of its real estate holdings are centered. During that time, he secured tenants including Viacom, CBS Radio, WNYC Radio, the Guggenheim Foundation, Atlantic Philanthropies, TriBeCa Rooftop, the Children’s Museum of the Arts New York and the Jackie Robinson Museum, as the church converted former industrial buildings into office space. In his new role, he will develop, manage and oversee approximately six million square feet of commercial space in 18 buildings.

“We’ve been fairly busy even though it’s been a bumpy ride on the economy,” Pizer said in Wednesday interview. “This year, our vacancy rate dropped a very few percentage points in comparison to the rest of the world. I’m not predicting any kind of a spike in rents, but that’s okay for us. We have a healthy amount of business and if 2011 remains as busy as 2010, that will be good for us.”

Weisbrod, who announced his resignation in May effective next January, will stay on as a consultant on Trinity’s neighborhood development strategies, according to a release.
