SAN DIEGO-The recession isn't over, but there are areas of retail that are performing well, says Sandy Sigal, president and chief executive officer of Newmark Merrill. Sigal, speaking with GlobeSt.com's Ian Ritter at the International Council of Shopping Centers' Western Division conference here recently, says that discounters are continuing to perform well. And all of those closed stores during the recession? New tenants are starting to fill them.
