LONDON-Tristan Capital Partners, an investment management firm based here, has hired six executives to boost the company’s service across the United Kingdom and Europe. Chief Executive Ric Lewis tells GlobeSt.com that the time is right to seek out more business as other companies are in disarray due to the economic downturn.

Lewis formed Tristan 18 months ago with COO Ian Laming. Lewis and a few of the new executives were the founders of Curzon Global Partners and partners with AEW, which partners on Tristan funds. Tristan manages two pan-European opportunity funds with $3 billion of assets under management. Lewis is also executive portfolio manager for European Property Investors and European Property Investors Special Opportunities; he launches these funds when he was CEO at Curzon

The hires include Rui Tereso, head of portfolio and asset management; Monica O’Neill, head of client services and marketing; Cameron Spry, head of investments; Simon Martin, head of research and strategy; Ben Newman, managing director of portfolio/asset management and Sameer Godbole, director of investments. Many of the executives worked with Lewis either with Curzon or with AEW.

Lewis says the goal is to match and exceed efforts from when a few of the executives built Curzon Global Partners. "The industry is fragmented and leadership is poorly defined. Many managers are out of business or distracted with legacy portfolio problems while investors are demanding better aligned, focused managers,” Lewis tells GlobeSt.com. “We believe now is the time to establish a well capitalized  ‘boutique’ of experienced professionals who have a strong track record and a history of working together in up and in down cycles and of delivering  exemplary performance.”
