BALTIMORE-Cushman & Wakefield has added nine million square feet to its local area leasing portfolio with the addition of a team from Preston Partners. The new hires are giving a boost to C&W’s industrial chops in particular--at a time when fundamentals in that asset class are finally starting to improve, David Baird, senior managing director of C&W’s Baltimore office, tells GlobeSt.com.
“We have more than tripled agency leasing under representation in the industrial market and more than doubled agency leasing in general,” Baird says. C&W has tapped seven sales and leasing agents from Preston Partners’ Columbia and Lutherville, MD offices to move to its Baltimore location. They are Michael A. Elardo, E. Hayes Merkert, Danielle K. Schline, Christopher P. Wright, Brian N. Kruger and Jonathan Casella, who are joining the Baltimore office. Jeffrey R. Pacy will move to C&W’s Bethesda, MD location.
Baird says the hire comes at a time when the bulk warehouse side of the market is beginning to recover, which also bodes well for the economy at large. “One of the first signs of a recovering economy is the health of industrial market especially the big box warehouse market--that represents the front line of the consumer market,” he says.
