DALLAS-Parkland Memorial Hospital, which was constructed in 1954 as a charitable hospital in Dallas, has been reconstructed and reconfigured over the past 56 years. The new design of the Parkland, which hopes to create a patient-centered facility, will be opened today.

The new $1.27-billion development across Harry Hines Boulevard is expected to be complete in 2014. The campus measuring 2.5 million square feet will have a 17-story main building, a neonatal intensive-care unit with 96 beds and 862 patient rooms. For the full story, go to Dallas Morning News.
