MIAMI-Bruce Kassman has joined Colliers International South Florida as the executive vice president of the Receivership Solutions service group. Kassman comes to Colliers from Miami-based Florida East Coast Realty, where he was vice president of development for the organization founded by Miami legend Tibor Hollo.
A 20-year real estate veteran and an attorney by trade, Kassman has managed condo sales and administration, customer service and closing coordination for Florida East Coast Realty's projects for the past seven years. He was also the asset manager for 2020 Ponce, a class A office building in Coral Gables, and project director for Villa Majora, a 36-unit luxury residential building. Luis Espinosa, director of Florida East Coast Realty's marketing department, did not returns calls seeking comment on Kassman's departure.
"It was time for a change," Kassman tells GlobeSt.com. "With what's going on in the world right now, this position is a good fit for me. There are a lot of great receivers doing solid work. I'll use my legal, business and real estate experience to add value to distressed properties. At Colliers, we have a unified solution that lenders and CMBS players want."
Colliers International South Florida launched its Receivership Solutions service group one year ago. But Stephen Nostrand, managing director of the firm, tells GlobeSt.com that hiring Kassman represents a stronger investment and focus on making the receivership business a more significant platform in its territory, which stretches from Vero Beach to Key West. Colliers currently represents more than 40
lenders in workouts, receiverships, note sales, REO sales, as well as managing and leasing.
"Often when we are talking to lenders, the question comes up about receivership issues," Nostrand says. "Bruce brings the commercial real estate background we need. He's also a lawyer. Those traits combined are ideal for someone charged with running a receivership business."
Kassman has experience in business and legal affairs, both in the U.S. and internationally. He was a founder, director and vice president of New Business Development for BizProLink Corporation where he led a team responsible for business development activities worldwide. Prior to BizProLink Corp., Kassman built and managed a private legal practice, specializing in corporate and real estate law. Kassman is licensed to practice law in New York, California and Florida. He is a member of the Florida, New York and California State Bar Associations.
"Bruce's ability and relationships in the legal sector will be a great foundation as he moves forward in this new position," says Donna Abood, CEO of Colliers International South Florida. "He excels in his ability to see the big picture while analyzing the way each moving part contributes-a skill that is crucial to understanding receiverships."
