WASHINGTON, DC-The National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts has announced its 2011 officers. Leading the list is its newly elected chair, Bryce Blair, chairman and CEO of AvalonBay Communities. The association also announced a decision to move its state of incorporation to the District along with other changes to its bylaws.

Other NAREIT officers for 2011 are first vice chair Donald C. Wood, president and CEO of Federal Realty Investment Trust; second vice chair W. Edward Walter, president and CEO of Host Hotels & Resorts; and treasurer Ronald L.
Havner Jr., vice chairman, president and CEO of Public Storage.

NAREIT is moving its state of incorporation from Massachusetts and adopting new bylaws, one of which is a provision that assigns all governing authority for NAREIT to a 15-member executive board. The executive board will be responsible for appointing the members of NAREIT’s Audit and Investment Committee and an advisory Board of Governors consisting of NAREIT members.

Serving on NAREIT’S 2011 Executive Board along with Walter and Wood are: Blair, Debra A. Cafaro, chairman, president and CEO of Ventas; Richard J. Campo,
chairman and CEO of Camden Property Trust; Richard B. Clark, Brookfield Office Properties president and CEO; Michael A.J. Farrell, chairman, president and CEO of Annaly Capital Management; Michael D. Fascitelli, president and CEO of Vornado Realty; William P. Hankowsky, chairman, president and CEO of Liberty Property Trust; Havner, Rick R. Holley, president and CEO, Plum Creek Timber Co.; Constance B. Moore, president and CEO of BRE Properties; David J. Neithercut, president and CEO of Equity Residential; Walter C. Rakowich, CEO of ProLogis; Robert S. Taubman, chairman, president and CEO of Taubman Centers.
