NEW YORK CITY-Construction law firm LePatner & Associates has established an investigation unit in the form of an affiliated new firm, Proactive Integrity Associates LLC. Industry veterans Joseph Jaffe and Jonathan Newcomb will lead the new team, which is intended to oversee construction industry practices, construction cost management, and project management investigations on behalf of public agencies and private owners and developers.
“America’s construction industry is well documented to waste over $120 billion annually in avoidable cost overruns,” says Barry LePatner, founder of LePatner & Associates, in a release. “Joseph Jaffe and Jon Newcomb will leverage their vast investigative and integrity monitoring experience to ensure that owners and developers are not forced to bear unnecessary costs arising from improper construction management as well as the unwarranted diversion of project funding from owners.”
Jaffe, who comes on board as a partner at LePatner & Associates, spent seven years in the US Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York in a variety of capacities, including Assistant US Attorney. Before joining LePatner as well as the new affiliated firm, the new LePatner team, he previously served as managing director and service line leader with UHY Advisors FLVS. Prior to that, he was founder and principal of SIRM Services Ltd., and previously served as managing director, EVP and general counsel with Decision Strategies LLC.
Newcomb is now a principal with Proactive Integrity Associates. Previously he was also at UHY in its global business intelligence and investigations practice. He has also held positions at Citigate Global Intelligence & Security, Inc. and at Decision Strategies LLC.
