
NEW YORK CITY-A new plan to develop a landmark district for downtown Brooklyn attracted intense opposition from business owners and residents at a Landmarks Preservation Commission hearing. Opponents say that the projected district would uphold few undeserving buildings and raise business and living costs in the locality.
