
McDermott
LOS ANGELES-CB Richard Ellis has expanded its hotel practice with the addition of six hospitality experts in the Western US markets of Seattle, San Francisco and Newport Beach. The new additions―who have assisted in the sale of over $1 billion of hospitality assets―expand CBRE Hotels to 42 transaction and finance professionals around the country.
The new hires, all from Colliers International, are SVPs Mark McDermott and Henry Bose Jr. in San Francisco; SVPs Bob Kaplan and Rod Apodaca in Newport Beach; SVP Chris Burdett and associate Matthew Behrens in Seattle. They provide what CBRE calls "the broadest geographic coverage of any hotel service provider in the country," according to Kevin Mallory, senior managing director of CBRE Hotels, in the company's announcement of the expansion.

Bose
The execs heading the three CBRE offices―executive managing director Mike Smith of CBRE’s San Francisco/Bay Area Region, executive managing director Lew Horne of CBRE’s Southern California Region and senior managing director Jim Bowles for CBRE in the state of Washington ―comment that the new teams will allow CBRE to position itself in the California hospitality industry at a time when the sector is extremely active.
McDermott and Bose, who are based in the company's Downtown San Francisco office, have participated in hotel transactions valued at more than $700 million since 2004.
Previously at Colliers International Hotels, McDermott served as senior managing director in the San Francisco office, where he focused on hospitality and leisure property advisory services in the Western US.

Kaplan
McDermott has more than 18 years of experience representing both public and private entities in transactions in California, Hawaii, Utah, Colorado, Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana and Tennessee. Before Colliers, McDermott worked in acquisitions and development for Wyndham Hotels and Resorts. With more than 20 years of experience, Bose also joins CBRE from Colliers International Hotels, where he was a senior managing director responsible for all hospitality and leisure transactions in the great San Francisco Bay Area.
Before joining Colliers, Bose was president and CEO of Ivy Hospitality Inc., a hotel management and investment firm. Before that, he spent 12 years at Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, where he served in a number of leadership capacities.

Apodaca
Apodaca and Kaplan were both senior managing directors at Colliers International Hotels/PKF Capital Los Angeles. Apodaca has more than 20 years of experience in commercial real estate, development and consulting. Before Colliers, he was a managing partner and national director of hospitality for Accelerated Marketing Group, and was a top producer at Sperry Van Ness in Irvine where he helped establish the firm’s hospitality practice.
Kaplan has more than 25 years of hospitality transaction experience and is focused on providing hospitality brokerage services to Southern California hotel investors, owners and developers.
Before joining Colliers, Kaplan was vice president of real estate at Newport Beach-based Tarsadia Hotels and was previously with San Diego-based John Burnham & Co., specializing exclusively in the sale and marketing of hospitality properties.

Burdett
Burdett served as senior managing director for hospitality investment advisory services at Colliers International Hotels in the Northwest region of the US.He has more than 20 years of varied experience in the hospitality and franchise industries, and currently serves as the president of Washington State University’s School of Hospitality Business Management Advisory Board. Before Colliers, Burdett was a principal with the Chambers Group Inc. and spent 10 years with Marriott International.
Behrens has served as a hotel analyst since 2007 at Colliers International Hotels, where he was responsible for the analytical work, financials, packaging and assisting in the transactions of hotels in the Northwest Region. Before that, he served in a variety of management capacities with Four Seasons and Fairmont Hotels in the Northwest.
