NEW YORK CITY-Residents of Jackson Heights are trying to prevent the 29,000-square-foot athletic field of The Garden School from going into the hands of a developer. The private school was in discussion with the city to sell its athletic field located across the 78th Street and Travers Park.

The Department of Parks & Recreation has proposed $4.7 million for the 20,000-square-foot land or $4.8 million for the whole field. The school had also received a $5.4-million offer for development of apartments. For the full story, go to Wall Street Journal.
