NEW YORK CITY-Cushman & Wakefield said Friday that Carlo Sant’Albano will be named chairman of the board, effective following the next C&W board meeting in early March. John Cushman III will become co-chairman of the board.

Sant’Albano has been CEO of Exor SpA, C&W’s majority shareholder, for the past five years. He’s served on C&W’s board since 2007.

Glenn Rufrano, C&W’s president and CEO, says in a release that Sant’Albano’s “broad international experience, deep client relationships and strong investment background will accelerate the success we’ve had in 2010. With his support, we will be even better positioned to achieve our growth strategy.  Our entire management team is looking forward to working with him.”

For his part, Sant’Albano notes in a statement that he’s worked with worked with many C&W professionals around the globe and that he’s “delighted” to join them.  “Together, with Glenn and his team, we will continue to deliver the most creative and innovative services to our clients,” he says.

Sant’Albano will continue to serve on the board of Exor as well as those of Fiat SpA and the Juventus Football Club. Before joining Exor, Sant’Albano was at Credit Suisse, based in New York and London. He’ll be based in London as C&W chairman.

Cushman will work with Sant’Albano as co-chairman. C&W says Cushman will continue to focus his efforts on new business, client relationships and, as a member of the board, the firm’s strategic direction on a global basis.
