NEW YORK CITY-NBC Universal, home of the TV series 30 Rock, has signed a mega-lease for space at that tower and two neighboring properties. The TV and film studio, now majority owned by Comcast, has inked a deal that encompasses 1.4 million square feet across three buildings at Rockefeller Center, the New York Post reported Wednesday.
The 10-year deal, with a General Electric affiliate, reportedly comes with two five-year options. It includes 755,602 square feet at 30 Rockefeller Plaza, where the company is headquartered; 475,110 feet at 49 W. 49th St.; and 187,065 feet in 1250 Ave. of the Americas.
All of the floors in the lease are owned as office condominium units by the GE affiliate. The lease gives NBC Universal a first offer option to purchase any of the condos if the GE unit decides to sell them, according to the Post.
Scott Panzer, vice chairman at Jones Lang LaSalle, represented the network in its lease negotiations, the Post reports. Calls to spokesmen for JLL, Rock Center owner Tishman Speyer Properties and Comcast were not returned by deadline. Click here for the complete Post story.
