LAKE FOREST, IL-Green Courte Partners LLC, based here, has added another financial expert to assist the raising of a $260 million fund for non-traditional commercial real estate assets. The company has hired Jane Mody as managing director and CFO, though Chief Accounting Officer Mike Tarkington, also a managing director, will retain responsibility for accounting, audit and tax functions.
Mody has 35 years in the business, including senior roles in companies such as Crescent Real Estate Equities, Silverstone Capital Group and Pacific Retail Trust. She was most recently working on another venture that hadn’t gotten off the ground, says Jim Goldman, vice chairman and CIO of Green Courte. “We’ve known Jane for many years, she’s respected as a straight shooter. We were happy to be able to reconnect with her, she’s got a lot of expertise in the financial areas,” he says.
The company raised its first fund in 2004, a $120.5 million discretionary fund focused on niche real estate such as manufactured home communities, parking and mixed-use retail. The second $262 million fund was closed in 2007.
The company is led by Chairman Randy Rowe, a former investment banker for Goldman Sachs and later CEO of the Sam Zell-run Equity Office Properties and Equity Lifestyle Properties, the former Manufactured Home Communities firm. Green Courte owns 18,000 land-lease home sites in 48 communities in 10 states, through its subsidiary American Land Lease Inc.
