MILWAUKEE-Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity is preparing to construct 40 new houses in Milwaukee utilizing a $2.75-million federal grant. Before receiving the federal grants, the organization constructed 22 new houses in 2009.

By utilizing the federal Neighborhood Stabilization Program grants last year, the organization built 37 houses. In order to carry out the project, Milwaukee Habitat is buying vacant housing plots for $1 from the city.
