PORTLAND, OR-REACH Community Development Inc. and the Portland Housing Bureau have started construction of an affordable housing project on Block 49. The $50 million project will feature six-floor apartment building with 209 units. The city is financing $28 million for the project.

The project will offer apartments for persons having an income 50% or below of the median family income of $25,000. Walsh Construction is the general contractor of the development, which is expected to be completed by late fall 2012.For the full story, go to Portland Business Journal.
